MLA's week: October 2-5, 2017

The Province's  MLA's made a one week pit stop at the Legislature, fitting in a week of work in the capital in between September's UBCM break and next week's Thanksgiving week break.

For the North Coast MLA, the work in the Legislature offered up one speaking engagement as she took part in discussions related to economic recovery plans for those areas affected by the summer's forest fires.

Our look at the work week that just concluded, can be found below:

On the week, Ms Rice was listed once  in the accounts of the sessions of the Legislature from October 2 to 5.

The North Coast MLA started the week off on Monday morning, taking part in the discussion related to economic recovery for those areas affected by the summer's BC wildfires

Some other notes on the week with a Northwest focus included:

The British Columbia Budget consultation process is underway, with the John Horgan government holding sessions in a number of communities, though the North Coast has been skipped over for this years round of community engagements.

Later in the day on Wednesday, Ms. Rice posted information to her Facebook page on how constituents of the North Coast could participate with written submissions to the Standing committee.

Skeena MLA Ellis Ross also had a brief opportunity for comment in the Legislature this week, celebrating the birth of a grandchild and taking note of the sacrifices that all MLA's make when it comes to time spent with family as part of their work.

His comments came at the very start of the Monday afternoon session of the week's legislature schedule.

The Legislature now takes a one week break for Thanksgiving, members will return to their work on Monday morning, October 16th.

There is more background on the North Coast MLA available from our MLA's Week Archive as well as our General Archive on the Legislature.
