Prince Rupert's North Coast Immigrant and Multicultural Services Society is one of twelve Northwest groups to share in close to 300,000 dollars in funding for literacy programs for 2017.18.
The Prince Rupert organization, which operates out of the Hecate Strait offices on First Avenue East will be delivering the Canadian Adult Literacy Program, which tailors literacy training towards individual educational needs.
The community-based programs are delivered in partnership with Northwest Community College,
The remaining eleven grant recipients are spread out across the Northwest and on Haida Gwaii, the full list of all recipients can be found below:

The adult learning initiative is the latest round of funding provided by the NDP government in Victoria, in August the BC government announced that Adult Basic Education and English Language learning programs in BC would be tuition free.
