Discussion on the Provincial budget dominated much of the news flow out of Victoria once again this week, as MLA's offered up their verdict on the Liberal Government's financial blue print.
North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice took advantage of a number of occasions in the Legislature this week to address the Budget and its impact on the North Coast, providing a lengthy examination on the topic in a Tuesday session.
Ms. Rice also addressed the continued calls from the North Coast for a replacement for Prince Rupert Middle School, bringing the topic up during the Thursday morning question period.

On the week, Ms Rice was listed four times in the accounts of the sessions of the Legislature from February 27 - March 2.
Basketball was once again on the mind of the North Coast MLA this week as she continued on with a stream of congratulatory statements in the Legislature, this time offering her support to the Charles Hays Senior Girls Rainmakers team.

Ms,. Rice raised issues related to health care, with a focus on the recent concerns that have been raised over hospital services in the Fraser Valley.
The main thrust of her contribution to the Legislature this week however came from her review of last week's Budget, which the MLA used to highlight a number of issues of interest for the North Coast.

She also renewed her call for the Province to act on the request for a new school to replace Prince Rupert Middle School, taking the issue to the Minister of Education during Thursday's question period.

The week came to an end with the North Coast MLA and Liberal candidate Herb Pond making a few observations through social media related on a pair of themes on the North Coast.
First on the news out of Terrace that the long sought replacement for the Mills Memorial Hospital is on the horizon, the second some short notes on the ongoing decommissioning process at Watson Island.

Ms. Rice is also a member of the Committee on Children and Youth, that committee did not meet in the past week.
As outlined above, the Northwest also featured in a major announcement from the Province this week, with some background provided on the plans to replace the Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace.

The Legislature will return to its work on Monday morning, March 6.
