Province launches Daycare Map to help Parents in selection process

It's one of the tough decisions all parents have to make when the time comes to return to work, finding the just right daycare to take care of their children as they get back into their work life routine.

To help parents conduct a thorough review of the options available in their community, the Province of British Columbia has delivered a new resource for parents as they begin that search for a Daycare provider.

The program announced earlier this week provides a data base on local daycare providers complete with a map of communities across the province and a range of background information to help make the search more helpful for parents.

Daycare options for Prince Rupert are now listed as part of
a new database and map program from the Province of BC

Stephanie Cadieux, the Minister of Child and Family Development introduced the new resource for parents at a press conference on Tuesday, highlighting the options that it provides for parents looking for space for their children at Daycare facilities.

“The Child Care Map was designed to reflect feedback that we heard from both parents and providers to help make finding child care easier,” ... “Now for the first time in B.C., parents have access to all the information they need on one screen with the ability to print the profiles of facilities they want to check out in person.” -- Stephanie Cadieux, Minister of Children and Family Development introducing a new online resource for parents looking for daycare resources

The Prince Rupert Daycare Map can be reviewed here

While using the map, those looking for a Daycare provider can review the basic information about the provider, what programs and services are offered and review the Health Authority Inspections for the Facility.

Plans are in the works to deliver a mobile friendly version of the map and listings for later this year.

The Province also announced additional funding for Child care spaces on Wednesday, providing funding for the Child Care Major Capital Funding Program, however in the first instalment of that funding No Daycare providers in Prince Rupert were on the list of those to be funded.

You can learn more about that program and how day care providers can apply for consideration here.
