Fairview Terminal is the focus of a report from the infulential industry publication Journal of Commerce |
The latest indication of that focus is a White Paper report from the highly regarded Journal of Commerce, a review which looks at the state of the Prince Rupert economy prior to the arrival of the Fairview Container Port and what impact that global trade is having both on the port and the community.
The report which features eleven segments, starts with an introduction to the Port of Prince Rupert and reviews the shift from a bulk break port of the late 1990's and early years of the 2000's into the Container Terminal of today with its eye on global trade and the gateway that the North Coast provides.
The ability of shippers to make use of CN Rail to access the heart of the United States through Prince Rupert makes up a portion of the overview of what the Fairview Terminal offers, highlighting the process that is used at the Prince Rupert Terminal to reduce dwell times and get product moving as soon as possible after it is unloaded.
Local longshore workers get much of the credit for the success of the Terminal to this point, with a portion of the report tracing some of the past history for the ILWU in the region and the need for its members to travel to find work prior to the introduction of the container service to Prince Rupert.
As well the path of development from investors from the original concept to today makes up a segment of the review as well, with the decision by Cosco to serve the Prince Rupert port considered one of the key moments in the evolution of the industry for the North Coast.
The expansion plans for the Fairview Container Terminal were featured in a report by a US publication |
The plans that DP World have for the future bring the report to a conclusion, with the current expansion project and the longer range plans to move the footprint further south making up the final notes of the sixteen page review.
The document was a co-production of the Journal of Commerce and the analytical service IHS
