It's a little bit early for a full fledged outbreak of election fever, but with the countdown seemingly now on towards a Federal vote sometime this year, political parties across the Northwest are starting to dust off the nomination forms and are making plans to select their candidates.
For the Conservative party, two candidates stand ready to seek their nomination for the opportunity to contest the election, with former Prince Rupert resident Tyler Nesbitt, now based in Terrace entering the race today.
In an article posted to their website today, the Terrace Standard outlines the efforts of Mr. Nesbitt, who offers up his balance of fiscal conservatism and being socially moderate as the potential key to electoral success for Stephen Harper's Conservatives.

For the moment, the two man competition will be between Nesbitt and Vanderhoof teacher Gerald Caron, Mr. Caron announced his quest for the nomination last fall.
Regardless of which candidate eventually carries the Conservative battle colours into the election, the task ahead is most likely be daunting.
Incumbent MP Nathan Cullen has regularly found strong support at the ballot box in past elections, with a strong organization across the riding from Haida Gwaii into the Bulkley Valley.
