Three options will be available for the members of the Metlakatla First Nation to count themselves in this year as the community prepares for the start of their Census period, an accounting of the membership which will get underway on Monday, November 9th.
The near one month process which comes to an end on December 7th, will include incentives toward participation for Metlakatla members with iPads, cash and Metlakatla hoodies among the items that residents are eligible to win through participation.
Residents can fill our the census over the phone, online, or by filling out a paper copy which will be left in mailboxes to be completed.
The census survey is for Metlakatla members who are currently living within the territory, including students away at school or members who may be away at work.
Yesterday the Census Team provided some of the process ahead, which with COVID will see reduced opportunity for door to door collection of information unless under special circumstance.
Census workers will however be out around the community to provide more information on the important community count.
Postcards are also being delivered to community members to explain the census process, you can also contact the Metlakatla census team at census@metlakatla.ca should you want more information.
Follow the Metlaktalta Facebook page for updates on the census process once it gets underway next Monday.
