A new Social Media forum is looking to inform and seek comment from local residents when it comes to issues related to the lack of affordable Housing in Prince Rupert.
Launched as part of the local Facebook community on November 9th, Prince Rupert Housing Action positions itself as a forum for info sharing and discussion, noting that it is not really a community action organization, but rather one that is simply a portal of information.
The opening post observes that the forum is designed for those with concerns about housing in the community and will look to build some solutions towards the long running issues of affordable housing in the community.
Among some of the themes that the participants have shared thoughts on so far are:
Opportunities for energy efficiency upgrades, homelessness issues for veterans, shadow populations and their impact on the availability of housing.
Also explored in the first few postings is whether Prince Rupert is now in a state of rental crisis, as well as the decline in available rental housing stock in the community.
You can learn more about their plans and participate in the discussion from the Facebook page which you can access here.
