Housing will be a major topic for Tuesday's City Council session |
The Agenda for the Tuesday night session has been posted to the City of Prince Rupert website and two items of note mark what has been the topic of discussion for local politicians both municipal and provincial this week.
As part of the Tuesday night session, Jennifer Rice, the MLA for the North is scheduled to make a presentation to Council providing some thoughts on the issue of housing in the community. Council members will also have an opportunity at that presentation to ask questions of the MLA.
The Mayor will also be putting forward some themes for discussion, with Mayor Brain placing his letter to Housing Minister Selena Robinson on the agenda for the night.
The introduction of his correspondence with the Minister will also provide Council members the opportunity to further discuss what steps the city can take as they seek to find solutions to the ongoing issues related to affordable housing.
Unless City Council makes an exception, as it is not a Committee of the Whole Session, there will be no opportunity for the public to weigh in with comments on housing, the Committee of the Whole option is only available as part of the final council session of each month.
Those that can't be in attendance at City Hall at the Tuesday night session, can watch it through the City's Website or through CityWest's Community Channel and streamcast .
The Council session is taking place on Tuesday, as opposed to its usual day of Monday owing to the Remembrance Day long weekend.
