The Day in the park hosted by Prince Rupert's Success by Six program featured a range of activities for children and their parents, as well as the official proclamation from the City to declare a children's Bill of Rights in the community.
That initiative from City Hall came following a trip by Councillor Blair Mirau to the Cities Fit for Children summit that took place Vernon in November of 2015.
Mr. Mirau introduced the plan to put in place the Bill of Rights to Council in April and it was approved at the April 11th council session, with plans to present it to the public at this years Children's Day in the Park.

| Lions Club members are selling tickets to raise funds for playground equipment for Mariner's Park |
While the youngsters were having fun, the need for new playground for Mariner's Park was being championed by members of the Prince Rupert Lions Club.
The service organization is currently in the midst of a fundraising campaign to provide new equipment for the popular gathering spot for the city's younger set.
Tickets are still available for purchase for the project, with first prize 1,000 dollars in cash from the Lions Club, Second Prize is a Grizzly Bear Tour for Two provided by Prince Rupert Adventure Tours and the Third place prize is a 32 inch Samsung LED TV courtesy of City Furniture.
