The makeover of some of the facilities at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre continue to make progress, with the city now putting out to tender a project that will retrofit all of the lights in the Russell Gamble Gymnasium, removing and replacing the current Hi-Bay Lighting system with high efficient LED lights.
The City is currently accepting bids for the project and has prepared a Request for Proposal outline for those suppliers that may be able to take on the project.
The work involves installation of the new lighting system using fixtures that will have an expected minimum life of 70,000 hours and be configurable for various functions such as, instant on, reverse dim or fad off. Products and systems installed will be designed to maximize Power Smart incentives.
Contractors that are interested must be a signatory to the City's Standing Contractors' Agreement and have a valid City of Prince Rupert Business Licence.
Once the bids are in and providing the costs related to the project are in the range that the City has in mind the contract will be awarded. That contract award will take place within fifteen days of the proposal closing date.
The deadline for applications is Friday, April 8th at Noon Hour.
The project is expected to take place from July 1 to July 29, with the completion date required by the end of the month.
The Light replacement project comes on the heels of a recent tender for refurbishment of the Russell Gamble Gymnasium floor, with that work anticipated to start in late July.
The bidding process for that project came to an end on March 8th, the City has not formally announced who the successful bidder was for that project, or what it will cost once work is set to get underway.
