The arrival of spring seems to have set off the starting gun for civic management positions with Port Edward now putting forward their job posting to fill their Chief Administrative Officer position.
The opening having been noted by the District at mid month with news that after five years of service to the District, CAO Bob Payette was to leave his post with a move planned to Southern Alberta to be closer to family.
The job search which is posted to the CivicInfoBC career page notes that the District of Port Edward has initiated an Executive Search for a talented and experienced CAO to lead the management team and collaborate with the Mayor and Council.
The District is making use of the executive search firm of James R. Craven and Associates to field the applications and make the recommendations to Council for who may be the best candidate.
Among some of the key elements to the job search include:
Interest and/or experience in Engineering and Planning would be useful in the new CAO, as well as the attitude of an inquisitive self-starter with strong leadership skills, inspired by the opportunity to effectively serve the robust people of the northwest. Experience with and appreciation of the culture and traditions of the neighbouring First Nations would be very useful.
The information sheet to go with the job opportunity also makes for a pretty impressive travelogue for the North Coast, highlighting many of the regions attributes and attractive features.
The full job description can be explored here.
The deadline for applicants is 5 PM on Thursday April 25th.
The Port Edward positions makes for the second senior management position to be advertised on the North Coast in the last week.
As we noted last Friday, the City of Prince Rupert has also launched their own search for a new Chief Administrative Officer, posting their notice to the CivicInfoBC page last Thursday.
