Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Natthan Cullen offered up some writing tips to the Finance Minister |
It may be summer and the season of relaxation, but with a Federal election campaign in the offing for the fall, it seems that the this summer is going to quickly morph into political season as the various parties begin to position themselves for the campaign to come.
Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen has been keeping his profile high with Parliament now on summer hiatus, taking the Conservative party to task on a number of issues with a focus on the economy now one of the MP's major discussion points.
The NDP head office is showcasing some of Mr. Cullen's editing skills this week, providing his version of what Finance Minister Joe Oliver should have said following a recent report from the Bank of Canada which weighed in on the state of the Canadian economy.
In addition to the financial review of earlier this week, the Bank of Canada also cut the key interest rate to 0.5 per cent.

Mr Cullen's revisions (along with a bit of editorializing) to the Finance Ministers overview, were also posted to the Facebook page for the MP, his social media outlet has proven to be quite useful in delivering many of what appear to be the main talking points of the campaign to come.
Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen offered up a few "revisions" for the Finance Minister this week |
The NDP and Conservatives are at the moment locked in a battle in the polls, with the Liberal party of Canada looking to keep itself as part of the discussion for the fall election.
A quick snap shot of the most recent polling data from June can be found from the most recent Angus Reid poll, it shows the Conservatives trailing the NDP by three percent, with the Liberals having fallen to 23 percent.
The economy, which many believed would be the main plank for the Conservatives heading into the election is now also going to be a topic that the two opposition parties seemingly may find a bit of traction with as well.
The Conservatives have already begun to turn some of the focus on the economy to external forces, which would appear to be one approach that the government will take should economic conditions not improve by the time the writ is dropped for the fall election.
All of which should make for a fascinating run up to the actual call of the election anticipated for September.
