Liberals at Convention May 2016

Social event planning has gone astray for Canada's political scene as both the Conservatives and Liberals hold conventions this weekend, the Conservatives heading to Vancouver to look to their future, while the Liberals will be in Winnipeg to celebrate their recent success of October and to work to further the Liberals party vision for the next few years.

The Liberal convention started early this afternoon with a number of Commission Meetings and a gathering of the Young Liberals, with the Opening set to come at 5:3 PM Winnipeg time.

Friday provides for a number of policy sessions, with a Question and Answer session on the proposed New Liberal Constitution perhaps the item to be watched the most during the course of Friday's events.

Saturday brings another day of panel discussions and a string of Keynote addresses a session with Canada's Big City mayors. Results of voting  and the Close to the convention come shortly after the 6 PM mark on Saturday

The full Agenda for the weekend ahead can be found here.

While the Prime Minister is out of the country at the moment tending to G7 duties at the summit in Japan,  some of his influence will be heard during the course of the three day convention.

The Prime Minister makes his return to the country with a Keynote Address scheduled for Saturday afternoon just after the noon hour in Winnipeg,  a forty five minute address that is expected to review the election success but with some strong suggestions for the path ahead to retain Government status for the years to come.

As they have done for the Conservative convention, CPAC is offering up a live stream of the Liberal Convention events, you can access that video stream here.

Through the weekend we'll keep up to speed on some of the development out of Winnipeg and note any major items of interest as part of our Convention archive below:
