Prince Rupert Port Authority accepting submissions for Community Investment Fund for 2015

Local projects or initiatives that might be looking for some financial support, might wish to give some thought to contacting the Prince Rupert Port Authority, which last week opened the annual one month window for submissions to its Community Investment Fund.

The Fund is designed to assist those projects or initiatives that are broad in scope and community based,  as well as to offer a meaningful impact in Prince Rupert and the surrounding region, offering long term benefits to the community.

Priority for funding will be provided to those initiatives or events which provide for the greatest funding leverage from other sources and are environmentally sound.

Contributions will not be made to the operating costs of a project or initiative; to individuals; to partisan political projects or initiatives; or to projects that are restricted to the use or benefit of specific individuals or organizations within the community.

Some groups/organizations or initiatives that have benefited from the fund include:

Oldfield Creek Fish Hatchery -- Salmon Education and Stewardship Centre
Lester Centre for the Arts -- new stage floor and carpet
Prince Rupert Marine Rescue Society -- new rescue craft
District of Port Edward -- community playground, ball field and park upgrades
Prince Rupert Library -- modernization project
